December 6, 2018 Thursday of the First Week of Advent
In today’s Gospel lesson (Mark 10:13-16), the first followers of Jesus tried to block the little children from approaching him. Jesus sharply criticized them, stating that those who are child-like are precisely the ones who will enter the kingdom of God. By no means did Jesus recommend that we be “childish.” Rather, we are to be child-like, re-living patterns that we have likely forgotten. Consider what it means to be child-like. It could involve being non-judgmental. Or ready to welcome and accept someone else. Or spontaneously joyful and adventurous. Or at this time when our souls await the coming of the Most Holy One, it could mean simply being open to how, when and where that might happen.
