Mercifully hear our prayers, O Lord, and spare all those who confess their sins to you; that those whose consciences are accused by sin may by your merciful pardon be absolved; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Look at this image of the Great Blue Heron in flight over water. What is your immediate impression? Now look more closely and note the details. The graceful appearance of the bird, wings spread, gliding over the still waters. What do you sense as you engage with this image?
Reflect. The Collect today asks the Divine One to absolve us from our sins, as we confess them. Imagine how you are weighed down with the heaviness of whatever separates you from God, or from others. What do you need to confess? Now imagine that burden being lifted, as you release anger, bitterness, self-centeredness, or your own personal sin.
Act. Identify one thought, word or action of yours that is not life-enhancing. Confess it in privacy to the Divine One, and experience the freedom that results. Fly. Soar. Glide.
